Historical re-enactment

The town of Exilles, still characterized by its medieval fortification (XIII century) allows the curious tourist to discover its charme through his "yard" and small passages, discovering its authentic heart and antique flavor of village.

As part of an historical re-enactment, ExillesCittà recreates a day of celebration just like the ones occurring at the end of the nineteenth century.

At the end of the nineteenth century, Exilles was the most populated village of the Susa Valley. Out of about 3000 inhabitants approximately a third were soldiers who lived in and protected the Fort: for these reasons King Umberto I elevated Exilles to the rank of "City" through Regio decree. Then bloomed many businesses, wealth and vitality thanks to trade and craftsmen who guarantee the Fort and its inhabitants all the comforts and the fashions of that time. Daily activities were related to the management of the Fort, its garrison and factories: workshops of shoemakers, tailors, seamstress, barbers, launderette and some pubs, taverns and hotels.

 16th - 17th September 2017

Underlining the close connection between Exilles and its Fort, the event will open with an evening concert on Saturday, September 16th 2017, which will take place in the charming courtyard of the Knight, located in the Fort.

On Sunday, September 17th 2017 the village opens its doors for tourists to witness histories and episodes of celebration and work. A day of stories and tales, in which the visitor is transported back into the atmosphere from the end of the nineteenth century to the 20's, through the settings, costumes and the characters of Exilles.
